Hi everyone!
New member and Corvette owner in my mid 60’s. So glad to be part of this forum.
I have wanted a Corvette since I was a teenager and I finally checked that box! I bought a 2001 Convertible with 48000 miles. Car is in great shape with the exception of all the bugs I’ve read about in this forum as well as other sources. I bought the car knowing I would have some repairs and negotiated the price to reflect that work needed to be done.
So far I’ve repaired a faulty emergency flasher switch which was messing up the blinkers and tail lights,(my totally scratched hands as evidence of this repair!) the dimming effect on the A/C head unit, did fluid changes on most systems plus I have an appointment scheduled for the EBCM repair. This morning I will be ordering a Summit harmonic balancer for the wobble. I’m not the most handy car repair guy, but I’m enjoying this more than you can imagine! This forum and You Tube are great inventions!
My biggest issue is garage space. I have 3 Harley Davidson classics already living in the garage. I live in Florida so it is brutally hot working on the car in the driveway. Hoping to hit Powerball this weekend so I can begin construction of a very large air conditioned garage to house all my toys!
Im looking forward to reading and enjoying the forum and I appreciate all the tips and advice from the talented people who know what they’re doing!!!

thomas77, I’ve noticed in past posts you’ve recommended a service manual. Is there any value in getting the more expensive 3 volume series ($250) versus the Haynes manual ($50)? I’ve always acquired the original HD service manual for all my motorcycles and found that they were worth the additional cost. Does the same hold true on the Corvette?
I think it depends on how many service details your looking for but I would say the more expensive manual would be the most useful if you plan on keeping the car a while. I have not seen the the 3 volume series. For that price it should contain a lot of information. The best manuals that I have used were the GM manuals that GM sent to the dealerships, they were very detailed. Not sure how hard GM manuals are to obtain these days.
