Welcome to the forum.
Sorry I missed your post, been kind of busy.
I assume that you've checked various online sources. Check everything operationally from front to rear. If you're not familiar w/ C4s, then take someone who is w/ you to check it out.

LOOKED AT A VERY CLEAN 92 YESTERDAY with 124 miles, the guy had replaced some parts adding up to $3000 . it drove out nice with no odd noises.
but while driving the "check engine light came on, the owner didn't seem to know anything about it. My question is "should I be concerned with the high mileage and should I have any other concerns to watch for ?? thanx

I'd definitely get a scan for the DTC that set the MIL. Most auto parts stores will do it for free if you don't have a scan tool. BTW, if you do get a older Corvette, recommend arming yourself w/ a good one. Make sure it's compatible w/ both OBD I and OBD II ('96 and up).
With 124K miles it will probably need a clutch if it hasn't already been replaced. Also I believe the '92 had the Optispark which was located below the water pump. Usually when the water pump goes, it leaks onto the Optispark and takes it w/ it.

thanx for the reply, your the only one that seems to respond. anyway the opti spark has been replaced and like you said, the water got to it. Its an automatic and seems to shift fine in the city altho didn't open it up. what do you mean by "arming myself?
anyway only thing that bothers me is the mileage and "check engine light" so I wrote the guy asking if he would have it checked out but haven't heard back, other than that its a beautiful car!
