I plced an order for '07 at the end of August, it was built on 9/25. Project arrival date in Las Vegas is 10/7. So it looks like about 5 weeks lead time, which is better than the dealer's prediction of 8 weeks. They are giving me $1500 off the sticker.

TPW seems to be holding true. Event Status last week went to 3400 (Broadcast For Production).

As I understand it it takes approximately 36 Hours on the assembly line to complete a corvette. Not sure if they run one or two shifts but if they do run two at 16 hours per day, that means a vette rolls off the assembly line every 2-1/2 days with some margin for final testing. (Event code 3800) then invoiced to dealer (Event Code 4150).

Following that it gets "Bayed" and sits around in purgatory waiting for the first truck (10 vettes to a truck) that is going into the destination area. Being in the southwest in a line with Dallas, Phoenix, LA etc. that hopefully will occur fairly soon after it comes off the line. Once on the truck, it goes to event code 4200.

Dealer delivery is code 5000 and then the BIG ONE -- Event code 6000 -- "Vehicle Delivered to Customer".

I fully intend to request that the dealer not wash the car. I've heard some horror stories about the guy's in the wash bay continuing to use towels that drop on the ground etc. etc. Nothing like getting your vette home with swirls already built into the factory fresh paint job!......arghhh!

My other request will be that they not place their dealership sticker on the back of the car.

I'll keep you posted.

Hi All:

Scheduled TPW of 10/2/2006 was fulfilled with car being born on 10/3/2006.

Last status as of Friday was that the car continues to be "bayed" awaiting transportation.

Looking at some of the Vin Numbers that are posted on other sites it would appear that they are coming off the line
at a fairly substantial rate. If in fact they come off sequentially then the VIN assignments below are interesting.

A Car Produced on 10/2 has a VIN # of ........349
A Car Produced on 10/3 has a VIN # of ........446
A Car Produced on 10/4 has a VIN # of ........754

Geez...that means that they rolled 405 vettes off the line over a three day period. This of course assumes
that VIN numbers are assigned sequentially. I'm sure they have their slow periods but the above numbers
would indicate they are a busy bunch.

Now if they would only ship them as fast as they build them!!

Stay Tuned.

Hi All:

Car arrived yesterday via covered carrier with some Z06's!!

40 Day's Order-to-Delivery.

I was lucky that my insurance company (Hartford) was open on Saturday and I was able to get a faxed insurance card.

Told dealer to just check it out mechanically but not to touch it cosmetically; I wanted it just as it came off the truck.
I received a series of followup calls from different folks at the dealer just to make sure that was what I wanted; sounds like I'm the first to request it.

Car had some rain spotting but otherwise deleivered in perfect condition with all of the plastic still attached and covering all of the various interior surfaces and most important no prep swirls in the paint!!! It's like unwrapping a Christmas gift in October.

Put on 60 break-in miles today......geez its tough keeping it below 55! I don't know how I'm going to make it through the next 440. Decided to stay in Sport mode (Paddle shift) for the entire period. I find it permits me to break it in at different RPM's (Always below 2500) through manual up-and-down-shifting.

I've got a lot of detailing to do; when its presentable I'll post some pictures.
