Thanks guys really appreciate the information on the C5's. I would rather get a 98/99 C5 than any C4, just personal preference and body style. For the 5 HP bump, I plan on adding some safe HP mods such as Exhaust and possibly Supercharger down the road so thats not that much in the grand scheme of things right now.Heck, 345 HP isnt to shabby, I drive a 140 HP minivan for work! I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm trying to stay within my budget but am willing to wait for a good C5 to come around.

Can any of you specify some of the issues that I need to ask for when looking into these models that were worked out by 01? The rear end was mentioned and some leaking...not sure what that means specifically.

I am going to a corvette auction in Carlisle, PA in August and hope to find a well taken care of car at a good price. Yes, I'm taking a corvette expert with me for help so I dont get taken. Has anyonebeen there before or to similar auctions? Any advice on theseas well.I appreciate the suggestions!

I think some of the seals on the rear end would leak, don't know if it is oil that leaks or what but they did have a problemon the pre 02 c5s. The gas gauge on all c5s would have an issue. If the owner left the gas tank less than half and drove around eventually thesensor in the tank would dry out and break thus your gas gauge would not function.Other than that someone else is going to have to chime in because I have no clue.

 

I would say you should keep looking and try to get a c5. I recently got an 01 and I enjoy it a lot. Although I'm already starting to have z06 envy.
