Gulf Oil Corvette Z06 Dominates Florida Auction With $1.05 Million Price Tag
Were you interested in Dick Thompson's SCCA-dominating 1963 Corvette Z06? Sorry, you lost your chance. It just went for $1.05 million at the Mecum auction in Kissimmee, Florida.
This weekend saw the car sell for that staggering sum at the Mecum Kissimmee, Florida auction to a private bidder who we're hoping can appreciate the significance of this car. The 'Vette in question was the first delivered from Yenko Chevrolet to Gulf Oil's Grady Davis in October 1962. It was then race prepared for the Puerto Rico Grand Prix where it scored its first class win.
This Gulf Oil-sponsored Z06 became the most successful factory-backed production racing Corvette of the C2 era. Gulf One was a master of the track and managed GT3 wins at Daytona, Danville, Road America, and more.
