The car was wrecked and put in the shop. The owner didn't keep up the payments and the finance company repossessed it and then sold it at auction and the dealer that my Dad bought it from, bought it at auction, fixed it and then sold it to him.

It was wrecked. (by who -DAD???)
Finance company took it back.
Finance company sold it to the dealer, who DAD had bought it from before.
Dealer bought the car, and sold it to DAD - again???
