Haha, i'm a Mustang boy...but you would never catch me telling someone not to use the clutch...what the hell is that? This world is full of clowns. Holding the rpms up and riding the clutch out for takeoff usually helps ET's when you are having traction problems. Rule of thumb from my experience..."a bog is better than a burn" keep in mind that it is harder on the clutch. Also sometimes when having traction problems...short shifting(shifting early) from first to second helps. I wonder if those magazines producing those numbers were powershifting(holding the gas pedal to the floor the whole 1320 while stabbing/sidestepping the clutch pedal)....thats usually good for a tenth or more. Also what conditions were they in? If they are racing on a 60 degree day and you went on a 75 degree with poorer atmospheric pressure....that won't help. Also weight...rule of thumb 100 lbs is a tenth.....got more options? Convertible? Gasoline is like 6.3 lbs to the gallon so racing full versus empty makes a difference. Also shift rpm, find out where peak power is and maybe shift right at or slightly before(allow reaction time). There are lots of variables that will shave ET's.

i agree...i think that alot of those times are in perfect conditions...and if you lose closely, there is a "price as tested" which often is higher than the actual model price. i have never been a fan of WOT shifting, although when track racing a stick, i am especially violent with the clutch...i dont go easy on the cars that i run...

12.89? What type of car? That is okay for a stock C5, but not the best possible for a ZO6. Stock, with stock tires, mine ran 12.7s with me driving, 12.6s-12.5 besty with my youngest son (only 23 and pretty damn quick) driving it. Putting BFG Drag radials (305s) on the rear cut that to a 12.39 best.
