I have a 1982 vette, the hood only releases on the left side, anyone know a way to release the right side latch ?

Do a search for this topic. Someone with the name wifes81 asked the same questions in August 05 and got a good reply with pictures and all.

Thanks Silver 78, that link worked fine. I will take a look at it sometime this week and see if it will work. Time to start getting ready for spring,But can't do much with the hood closed. I take it , by your handle , that you have a Silver 78. Mine is also silver, 82. check my profile, i've posted a picture of it. ( I did'nt find anyone else who posted photos ) Anyway thanks again for the info.

Thanks to all for the help. the photos posted were not much help, they seem to be from a C1 or a C2. I made a phone call to a near by corvette dealer, who hooked me up with his service manager. He told me to lift up the driver side of the hood far enough to see the left side hood latch,then locate the cable that crosses over to the other side, give it a pull and it should release as long as the cable was not broken off the right latch, if it is i would have a big problem!!! To my relief when i pulled the cable it popped open. To solve future problems with the right side latch, i drilled a hole directly behind the latch release and placed a body plug in it. if it ever happens again i can just remove the plug and pop it open with a screw driver. I replaced the cable and retainer clips and it now works fine.

try shooting wd-40 in the latch mechanism. My 1985 vette does the same thing. Pull the release lever kind of swiftly a few times and pull up on the hood at the same time, this works on mine.
