HOOD POPPING OPEN
When I use the hood release on my 1970 the passenger side opens, but I have to manually thump the driver's side to get it to open. However when drivingif I hit even a minor bump the driver's side releases - the passenger side does not.
Anyone have an idea of how to remedy?

Sounds like the latch needs adjusting. See 1B-2 in the service manual. Basically you can move the catch bolt by loosening the mounting screws, adjust the stop screws with the rubber caps which make the hood align with the fenders, and adjust the height of the catch bolts. Also the catch bolts and the latches on the hood should be lightly lubed.

HI Bandojohn, the hood release on the C-3's will give everyone a problem eventualy, your lucky yours pops open most of the time there stuck closed.
Has anyone put in hood pins? If so, please tell me how to do it. Thanks PG

RE: HOOD POPPING OPEN
Hi Starship, My hood got stuck closed a long time ago and it took a long while for me to get open.
So then I adjusted the catch bolt and guess what? Still wouldn't open! So after I got it open again I removed the catch bolt and put it in a box with the rest of the spare parts.
So the right latch works and when I need to open the hood I pull up on the lelt side hood up a few inches and reach under the hood and pull the cable that runs left to right under the hood.
So that why I want to go to hood pins. PG

Thanks Starship, any help will be appreciated, auto-zone has the non locking type, and that would be okay for me, I just don't understand how to line them up, like where do you drill the holes and where do you bolt them on where there is enough support. Thanks PG.
