Default Decoding GM Engine sufix - CRE

Can anyone decode the suffix on my GM small block engine? T0707 CRE is stamped on the front of the block. 3970014-? is cast on the bell housing flange. Thanks.

Default Thanks Keen Corvette Parts

I am blessed to have Keen about 5 miles from my home. They identified my engine as a 1970 350 Turbo, 300 hp out of a Chevelle. I stopped by for a fuel filter kit. Great bunch of guys! Yes, I would have preferred it to be a match number 327.

If it has an 8" harmonic balancer, that usually means it was the high-performance version of the engine.

Did they tell you what heads it had on it?

What car is the engine in now?

I have to pull the covers to accurately identify the heads; they do have the double hump. Engine is in a 65' C2. 4-spd Tranny matches the car vin. Still working on identifying matching numbers - haven't found a real good number decoding source yet.

If the double hump heads have a rounded hump on the top, then they are the high compression big valve heads. If the double humps are pointed on top, then they are the low compression big valve heads. The intake valve would be 2.02", and the exhaust valve would be 1.7".
