Hard start when engine is hot

Hard start when engine is hot
I have a '65 Vette 327 350 HP that is starting to make me crazy. Starts fine from cold start or within 5 min after engine runs. After sitting hot for more than 5 min I have to crank it for 15 -20 seconds or so with about 1/4 pedal before it will start. Many times the engine will backfire. Stock dist has been converted from points to electronic, new "flame thrower" coil, new 8mm wires, new cap and rotor, new AC plugs, new 600 CFM Edelbrock carb.
Any ideas before go to the loony bin?

RE: Hard start when engine is hot
Have you checked to see if it fire or fuel? What temp is the engine when trying to start hot? Also, I had a problem with one of those conversion sets doing the same delay start as you describe, that's why I ask about fuel or fire. Aslo, on your hot engine, check to see if you have fuel leaking over the bowl into the manifold when hot, float may be set wrong and when gas is hot, it expands. [8D]
