Hard Start
I'm having trouble in the morning when I start my 90 roadster. It's garaged with 97,000ish miles. Seems like it takes forever 3-4 hard cranks before it gets started. Once it's started seems like it goes all day without a problem. Just when it sits over night. It was tuned up maybe 2 months ago and I was told that the fuel filter was like mud. (not from me, I bought the car last November). I'm thinking maybe the filter needs another changing? I believe the car was an outside car before I rescued it. Any thoughts?
how does it run once it is started and cold?? Nice and driveable or maybe still stumbling around?? Could be a problem with the "cold start injector" but I'd need to know a little more the car's symtoms before I could lie to you and make a guess. Try some fuel injector cleaner and see what happens.
You need to check fuel pressure. There is a check valve built into your fuel pump that helps hold residual pressure on the system, but usually doesn't hold over night. Could be low fuel pressure. I really don't think it has a cold start injector in the 90 model TPI. Also need to check with a prsssure gauge to see if fuel pressure bleeds off pretty quick or slowly after shutting off engine. Need to check spark also to see if your plugs are firing.
One it starts it seems fine. Just that it takes maybe two or three 1-2 second cranks to get it going. That along with the other problems (see battery light posting) has me alittle frustrated as a new vette owner.
possibly. you can take the vaccum line off the FPR and see if theres any fuel in there...thats usually a sign of them failing. but like previously said, if you check your fuel pressure, it will tell a more accurate story.
