Default Rear view mirror removal

In removing the dash pad on my 1962 Vette I am encountering a problem with removal of the rear view mirror. The shop manual directs to remove the courtesy lamp housingin order to access the nut holding the mirror in place, however, one can just barely view the nut. It is a real tight spot. Is there a special tool designed to remove the nut? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
