Exclamation 1968 C3 Corvette Stingray air dam question?

Hello,

A customer of ours, who has a 68 Corvette Stingray, recently brought the vehicle in to get some replacement parts put on. Along with the parts was a front air dam, because the customer says his motor gets to hot while driving and he wants this to be put on to help with the air flow to the radiator.

We have gotten everything put on the car except for the air dam and we are stumped as to how it fits on the car. We can't find any diagrams or instructions on the internet.

Here is a link to the part he brought us.
link

It states in the application box that this item will fit.

CHEVROLET CORVETTE STINGRAY CONVERTIBLE Sting Ray Convertible 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972

The description states "The best part is that it remains hidden by the nose to maintain an original appearance."

From that, we figured it has to go inside the nose somewhere.

Here are some pictures of the front of the car and the air dam layed out.

If anyone has ANY info whatsoever please let me know.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum.

The part you have is not what was on it originally. The original part was a semi-flexible polyurethane part and would give a little if it hit something. Your part will break as it appears to be fiberglass..

That being said, your part should bolt up under the nose where the original air dam was. The "Shark" was a bottom breather and needed air deflected up and thru the radiator. If you can find another C3, you might be able to see how the OEM one attached.

Make sure all of the seals around the radiator and on top under the hood are in place to prevent air from leaking past the outside of the radiator. Check the thermostat to make sure it's opening properly. Make sure the radiator core is not plugged. It may need to be rodded out.
