1970 454 Ignition Points or transitor?
All, I am reading that early year has Points and later transistor ignition.
True? If so how do I identify? Some of the electrical diagrams indicate a Pulse Amplifier is associated with the transistor type and it is a separate box with a 3 prong plug. Is this located engine bay side or under dash?
Does the Transistor Type use a magnetic or hall effect type distributor instead of points??
Is the resistor type wire going to (+) side of coil unique or different? Color, cloth insulation stripes etc?
Thx

Welcome to the forum. Not sure about the 1970 454 ignition but I know the mid-year 427 had it as an option. The control unit was mounted on the driver side on the front of the radiator support. The distributor used a toothed wheel, magnetic type pickup. I suspect that they continued using that version through the early 70s but not sure.
