1973 Vette found in Port Klang Malaysia
A little background: I met a girl in college here in the U.S. from Malaysia. We got married after we both graduated and as such we travel to and from Malaysia quite a bit. I love Vettes and really any American car. Loving American classics and being in Malaysia isn’t the greatest mixture though. My friends in Malaysia sympathize with me and they take photos of any neat old American cars they see.
My friend was in Port Klang just a couple of days ago and spotted what he thought was a Vette. Port Klang is the main sea port area for Malaysia and located fairly close to the Capital of Kuala Lumpur. I asked him to go back and get some photos if possible, he took some exterior ones and it looked pretty nice. I asked him to go back and get the VIN number and additional photos which he sent out today. It turns out it’s a yellow/black 1973 is actually in model, L48, automatic. The car is in really restorable shape. It appears to be totally complete minus the door panels. I have no idea how long it has been sitting there nor does my friend. I don’t know the story behind it, but being that its sitting at Port Klang it could be a dubious one. My friend and I are trying to figure out the story but no one seems to know anything. I tried searching to see if it was stolen but couldn’t come up with anything. Perhaps you guys can come up with something.
Anyway I thought it is at least an interesting story and neat to see Vettes in exotic locations. By the way I have seen 3 other corvettes in Malaysia. There is a teal 93 or so in Miri Malaysia (Island of Borneo), there is a red 71 in Penang, and a silver c5 convertible in Kuala Lumpur.
The vin number of the 73 is 1Z37J3S406505
It has a Colorado registration sticker in the window.
Here are some photos.

Man, that puppy is cool!! [8D] I see me one completely restorable car, from the photos posted. What a cool story that would make. Let us know what you figure out, and if you decide to go for it..... I love stuff like this.

As luck would have it I just got back from Malaysia and likely wont be back for at least a couple months. Im dying to inspect it in person. Day late and a dollar short as always. I am trying out a few options though.
I have my Father-In-Law, a 30 year veteran of the Malaysian police, talking with his friends to try and find info on it. I am having my friend in KL photographing the car and asking around at the port as well. Luckily he loves a good car story as much as I do although he, like many Malaysian car guys, favors European cars.
As I find out more info and get more photos I will post them here.

Being the original owner of my '73, it hurts to see one in that condition. Try to find someone in law enforcement in the States with access to the stolen car database. Good luck.

Hi 73 shark.
Sadly all the law enforcement I know is in Malaysia . If anyone has any contacts or someone here is a police officer I would love to have the VIN number checked to see if it is legal. I posted it above. I tried some online sites but they only check back to the 1980's.
By the way love the Mizzou logo. Thats actually where my wife and I met. We still go back to Columbia 2 times a year since all of my family lives in Missouri.

I can probably get this VIN # run for you, but it may be Monday before I can find out. The fire station that I've worked at for 25 years is connected to the police station, if you know what I mean. Harleyboy
