John, I just got a 73 and on a scale of 1-10 I thought mine was about a -2 as all the panels looked terrible. The seats covers and door panels are junk. I started pulling out the rear panels and other interior trim and thought I might try and clean them and if that didn't work I would paint them. Well low and behold after cleaning them with household cleaner ( milder soaps didn't work) they came out looking brand new so just work slow and don't be in a hurry and maybe you can save enough to get the things you really want. I find over half the enjoyment of having a car like this is working on it myself, but hey maybe I am weird or something.

Welcome to the forum.
I am currently rebuilding the front suspension on mine while the engine is out. Gives you a lot better access.
