Default 1979 vette battery problem

I have looked everywhere in the forums and through google searches and have not been able to find an answer to my problem. I have a 1979 corvette that will not charge the battery at all. I just took the alternator to get tested and it passed twice. I can start the car and remove the battery and the car will continue to run off the alternator. The problem I am having though is that the engine light is on the entire time, and the battery meter does not show any sign having a charge. I thought that maybe the gauge was not displaying it so I left the car run with the battery hooked up thinking it would keep it charged. After 30 min of it running I turned the car off and when I went to start it again it was dead.

Make sure the ground connections from engine to chassis and battery to chassis are also clean and tite.

Also check the battery voltage at the battery w/ the engine on and off.

Welcome to the forum. Since this thread is over 8 years old, you'll probably get more views if you start a new thread with your question.

Edit: Oops, I see that you already have. 🙂
