Yep. Just waiting on that gm factory manual to get here. It always amazes me how many crazy things people do on vehicles. Over the years some were so bad I sold them. Too much of a hassle sometimes. I think this one won't be that bad. But we shall see!
Found out the seller shipped my gm manual with wiring diagrams out 4 days after purchase. Geez. I have been running around online looking for a diagram in the meantime. By chance does anyone know what plug this is for? Next to the AC case, passenger side firewall. The plug isn't even tight. It just falls off.
Spent some time looking over wiring in the engine compartment. Holy smokes. Cut wires, loose wires, unconnected plugs, wires taped up just hanging. Wires laying directly on the exhaust manifold. The list goes on. I ordered some wire connectors and a heat gun to shrink wrap them propery. It's amazing this car runs as good as it does.

Just a quick note my friend, not all plugs are used, unless you have every option in the book.
The engine compartment is the worst place for electrical connectors, time, heat, and vibration really take a toll. The exposed copper in one of your pictures is most likely due to heat shrinkage. I have seen this many times before. Unfortunately on my own cars as well.

I hear ya. I looked online for replacement connectors but haven't ran across any yet. Some are pretty damaged. I have a lot of wire repair in my future.
Well I finally got my 82 shop manual with wiring diagrams. If I'm reading it right this might be the issue or 1 of the issues. That orange wire is only hanging on by a few strands.
Hopefully I can get to it this week. Still waiting on my wire connectors with heat shrink to arrive. I'll post an update 🤞
