Default 1982 fuel pump?

Caught wind of a few 1982 corvette owners replacing the stock fuel pump with that of an 85' or 86'. Now, with the 85' and 86' having the TBI needing the 65+ PSI from the stock fuel pump, and the 82' needing only maybe 17 PSI how is this just a straight replacement? I'm seeing that if I do this I'm going to fry a fuel pump because of serious resistance. Keep in mind that these few didn't mention converting to the 85' 86' TBI, so question would be is it possible with the Cross Fire Injection?

My guess is that it wouldn't hurt the hi-pressure pump as it probably has an internal regulator. The big problem might be is can the TBI handle the increased pressure?
