68' in storage
Ive got a 68 sitting in storage for about 15 years now. I know its going to take some work TLC to get the engine ready to start again along with new fuel pump, carb rebuild etc. Here is the question I live in FL and the cars in NY. I wont be able to bring it down to FL for a while maybe a year or two. Should I work to start it up now or wait until I'm ready to move it to FL? Didn't know if its wise to get it fired up just to let it sit again or whether it would be an easier restart by getting it going in advance. Any thoughts?
Thanks

Welcome to the forum.
I hate to tell this but if it hasn't been started and/or driven for 15 years, you'll probably have to do a lot more than what you mentioned. The seals will all be dry and hard, so leaks will occur. The innards of the engine may have even rusted which will require a tear-down. Hopefully it was protected from rodents as they can destroy the interior. Brake calipers are probably rusted and will require replacement. Obviously the tires will require replacement as 15 yr old tires are unsafe.
If you start now, you'll probably have it ready for trip to FL in a couple of years. Good luck.

Absolutely , no question, trailer her home so you can take the time to prep her right before turning her over. Change oil and flush the fuel tank. Don't run what's in there through your motor. Even squirt some light oil in cylinders ( some how ) and let 'em soak for a few days before turning it over.

my 73 set for 8 years, we pumped out old gas took valve covers off and poured some marvel mystery oil over the valves (should take spark plugs out and put shot down there too) let it sit over night. then put wrench on cranck bolt and try to turn it over by hand to make sure it's not seized. then we put new gas and new battery on it a little starting fluid and it started right up.
