Default 74 corvette questions, need help please

I have a coworker selling a 74 vette for $6,000. It has the L48 engine with an automatic transmission. It has 20k miles and hasn't left the garage since 84 and is in excellent condition. I don't have pictures currently but it's Burgundy with black leather and a removable top. I have seen people say that the 74 is a bad year but not really explaining why. Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you.

Welcome to the forum.

A couple of things I remember about the '74s was it had the seat-belt starter interlock switch and was the first year for the rubber rear bumper which had a reputation for warping and paint problems.

You said "removable top" so is it a roadster? Also if it hasn't been driven for 30 years, be prepared for a lot of seal replacements. Also tires, belts, hoses, etc.

$6K sounds like a good price but you could dump a bucket of money in it. Definitely need to have a very knowledgeable Corvette person look at it.

Thanks for the welcome and reply and yeah I'll be bringing a friend of mine with me to look at it for sure. I've never had a vette before just montes so this will be a transition for me.
