Default Anyone know What this is?

This electrical part is on the passenger side firewall of my 74.
Looks like it has the word start on it.
It is ready to fall off and I don't have a clue what it does.

Hi Schoon, that is the seat belt interlock overide. In 1974 the Fed's decided to make everyone use the seat belts. All 74's and some early 75's had this feature. Our cars would not start untill the seat belts were fastened. If you fastened your seat belt but the car would not start you could push the button (your buttom is missing). The law was changed due to public outcry. There is a quick disconnect under the seats which takes the interlock out of the system. PG.
