Default C3 Transmission

I have a 1981 Corvette C3 and found some transmission fluid below the Trans. Housing area leaking onto the floor. IDK but could it be an O’ring or pump seal. Won’t know until I take it to a mechanic to open it her up. If I need a new transmission what would my best choice be?

I heard the TH350 from Summit Racing was good and would match up nicely. Any thoughts, your opinions would be greatly appreciated?

A lift would be nice way to checks for leaks. Leaks are not always serious or hard to fix depending on where they are at. If you are considering replacing the transmission you might consider maybe a 700R for cruising. I replaced my 77 th350 with a 700R and I would do it again, It does require shorting the driveshaft. But I have 3:08 gears that's was great around town but not Highway cruising.

Other than leaking a bit how well does the transmission work? A reseal is way less expensive than a replacement.

Thanks Harley, I did some more investigation and found the dip stick seal and the shifter seals were leaking. Took care of it and now no leaks.
