Default Car Lift

Anyone have a lift in their home garage.
I am interested in the kind you can store 2 cars in the same area, one over the other.

Don't have one but unless your garage is about 25'-30' deep, I don't see how you can open your garage door once you have the first car in and up.

Only one I've ever seen was a 4 post lift, that when raised, one could squeeze another car benieth. You've prob seen this type of lift at a shop or the ol' service station. If ya look around, I bet ya could find one for a good price.

I have a 4 post lift from Classic lift. I had a Stinger lift and sold it to a friend because I need a taller lift to get my pick-up to go under it also. I use it for storage 90% of the time but it sure is nice to use to clean underneath the car.

Do you have a garage door that goes close to the ceiling then? Or just a really deep garage?

I heard a guy at a show talking about garage doors that fold vertically istead of laying on horizontal rails.
My ceiling is 10feet?
Might not be enough?

Rich,
Did you install the lift yourself?

I put a lift in my garage and its the best idea ever. I built a 24X24 detached two car with 8' walls. The lift I bought is from DirectLift and it fit with no modifications to the garage. It runs on 110v. I store my 82 over my 2004. They are both 4' high. For this lift (or any other on the market) you need 10" plus the height of the two cars. I still have plenty of room front and back and on both sides. I bought the one from Direct Lift becaus it had the narrowest footprint, but all the companies are pretty similar. Bye the wy, it does not have to be bolted to the floor and is portable on lift casters that come with it. It also comes with a jack plate and drip pans. For $1600 plus $350 for shipping, it was a real bargain. As for the garage door, I have a direct drive opener mounted o the front wall (no chain) and I do have to pull the 82 all the way forward for the door to clear. But, it works perfectly for me.

You 4feet not 4 inches right.
So 8'-10" is the min ceiling hight?

I put the lift together myself with the help of a cherry picker because the ramps are heavy as hell! My door tracks go up on a 45 angle first then 90 for more clearance.
