Yea, but I never learned how to do that I've been pretty fortunate to have good people to help me out

On Q-jets it's relatively easy. There's a wrapup spring on the secondary air valve that you can adjust easily.
Holleys require a change of the spring in the vacuum pot. Since it takes some time to change out, Holley offers a quick change kit that makes it a lot easier and comes with several different springs.
