Good automatic transmission?
As long as you keep any parts you take off, it can always be put back to original. Like pg said, enjoy it for what it is.
I vividly remember the '78 Pace car feeding frenzy where folks were payingway over sticker to get one and then some were storing them away for a future profit. They're worth about $40K now if pristine. Let's see $25-$30K 30 years ago for $40K today. Not your best investment. Now a '67 L88, that's a different story but who knew?
Tell your Dad to go out and enjoy his '84.

Hi again, an 84 with less than 1,000 miles. Now that is rare! I would not change anything at all on that car. That's the kind of car you see at the B/J auctions that go for big bucks!
As far as mod's on our C-3's things like the Pertronics point replacement or adjustable strut rods or other than stock wheels and tires or a better radio and speakers only improve the car.
I think the lines of the body are just perfect so I think it should stay that way but there are some who like the Mad Max or Corvette fever look. To each his own.
Enjoy your ride, PG.

PG's use of the word survivor made me think that what your Dad might consider is to take it to Bloomington Gold and get a Survivor Certification on it and go to NCRS and get a high mark there also. Both would enhance the value for when, if ever, he wants to sell it. Just a thought.
