Have a 1980 L82 Corvette 350ci. 36,000 miles.
Do I really need to use premium gas instead of regular ?

I don't think so and I don't think you ever did need to use premium gas. Have you checked your owner's manual?

Yes, manual say's unleaded fuel. When I was looking and found this car, the seller and both Corvette inspectors I used said to use premium...but I don't remember why ? It's tough getting older !!

I don't think any GM vehicle used premium until they started producing some performance engines again such as the ZR1 in 1990. You can try using a few tanks of regular and if it starts to pinging and knock under hard acceleration you can go back to premium.
I agree getting old is tough but it beats the alternative.

Your right. I think I'll try a few tank fulls of regular. And if I hear pinging and/or knocking, I'll go back to premium.
And yes.....every day above ground is a good day !

Thank you again for your quick responce
