Question jpb

Have a 1980 L82 Vette
Had a nice 8 hour drive over the weekend listening to my cd's and just cruising. Pulled into garage, turned car off, removed key, and the power antenna motor would not shut off !
Thanks to this forum, I removed rear left speaker and disconnected the connector with the white, green and gray wires. Motor stopped running. Pricing for a replacement shows $184.00 for I'm sure is refurbished. I have a Kenwood am/fm stereo w/cd player in it. Don't really listen to the radio. Always listening to cd's.
Dumb question...should I just leave it and not replace because I'm not sure if it's the relay or the internal flexible cable is broken. I know if I ever want to sell it, it would be nice to tell the buyer the reception is good using the radio! Luckly, the power antenna retracked all the way down.

If the antenna retracted fully and the motor kept running, then most likely the cable is what broke. You would have to replace the antenna assembly to fix that.

Default Power Antenna

Thanks for replying 73 shark. You've helped me before !

Yes, saw the kit for $35.00 on Corvette Central website.

Also saw the 79-82 Power Antenna Without CB, but say's it's out of stock.

I wonder if I should just replace the whole thing if I can get it elsewhere ?
