I won't keep mine to the end. In fact, I can't wait for the day I'm no longer the owner. That's because that'll mean my son is the proud owner of my 74. Owning a Corvette is a great thing, but passing it down seems like it'll be even better.

I'm sure we'll both shed a tear that day.

Luckily for me, he's only 7. I've got a few more years and miles to enjoy her.

 

I have owned nothing but GM muscle cars all of my life (52 years old). We have had a 69 Camaro SS for the last 7 years. After I completed the restoration on it, I started looking for a 59 Camaro Convertable. I could not find one in the condition that I wanted that wasn't way over priced. I found the drop top 69 Vette at the right time and price. I have always liked the C3's. I do agree that they have the best lines. Just like the 69 Camaro is the sexiest of all Camaros. I should be finished restifying the Vette by March. Just in time to go cruising and to car shows.

 

For me it was price. I wanted an older car, but not so much a Vette, but the price was right. Little did I know that I'd take that car to an NCRS 4 Star Bowtie award two years later.

well my first one was a 1958 corvette,(paid $1000 for her) figured the last one should be a vette,the 75 was within my price range so it is mine now.she is my daily driver, and she loves being out, keeping the dust off her nose.. it also gives me something to do fixing the small flaws that have gone unfixed for the last little while.

 

An older cousin had a '69 427/4 speed coupe. It was maroon with black header side pipes and Crager ss wheels. He had it pumped up to around 550hp and that thing was fast, I still remember a couple of the rides he gave me.. That was in 1978. I had kinda forgot about that car, messed around with some 5.0 Mustangs untill I got my doors blown off by another 69 bb Vette, and I did the flashback. Now we make enough money to have the nice toys, so we took the plunge on our 70 coupe. Nothing real special about the car itself, I liked it because it was more of an empty canvas of a corvette that we could make our own (ie restomod). She liked it because it is so nineteenseventy retro, and mulsanne blue. I want to hot rod it and she wants to restore it. We will compromise and restomod it without changing the looks of it. This will be a long term project as I/we want to do most of the work ourselves and we don't want to take it off the road for more than a weekend at a time. Once I figure out this picture thing I will get some posted.

 

When bought my 68 (first car I ever owned) in 68 I was debating between vet, porsche or jag. Too tall to fit in porsche, Jag was kinda ugly but new style of vet was soo attractive. Looking back --should have got jag. Worth more now and were selling for same price. Paid 4,600 (100 over cost) in those days.

 

I got the bug around 73-74 when I was in grade school and a senior had brought his fathers yellow 72 454 to school (which I believe they still own). That was it! 30 plus years later of sad excuses why I couldn't get one, was enough. I had to have the split bumpered, t-top/removable rear window, ground thumping, rumbling LT1, 4 speed, leather interior, head turning slice of the American dream. There is nothing in this world like cruising down Main St., stopping at a light and seeing people stop, look and admire a true American, classic sports car. God Bless the USA!

I too enjoy reading them and the information from you fellows is priceless.I owned a 76 years ago and had to sell it because of finances.My son was about 5 at the time ,when the first person to call came looked drove and said sold,and my son burst into tears and ran into the house.I told him we would get another one. Well it took a while ( he is now 23) but we got a 75.She is pretty rough but the potential is limitless.Doing all the work ourselves except the specialised machining.( can't afford all that fancy equipment).I am putting together a 4 bolt 350 just done up mildly to be able to get her on the road this summer. I am in the process of doing up a big block454 for her.It is going to be pricy to do it up the way I want (600 plus Hp) so the 350 will do. She has a turbo 400 auto and will have a B&M stage 2 shift kit with a B&M pro ratchet shifter and certified flex plate. The suspention is a stage 4 from Mid America and new carpet etc. The paint will be last Candy apple red with plum.My buddies 61 vette is that color and you can't take your eyes off of it.Well keep up the good work and enjoy chatting with you guys.I am up in Canada so I hope the doesn't offend anyone.Oh ya my wife is an american from Redding California.Have fun you all.eh!

 

Offended? No way! Anyone who has ever visited Canada has to admit it's a great place. As long as they got open roads, clean air, and a gas station every 150 miles, I'm happy!
