If the switch came with keys and you are not concerned about having a different ignition key then you don't need to worry about the pin.If you want to use the original key then you have to take the key tumbler out of the old switch and install it into the new one. With the key in the switch turn to lock or acc.,then insert a stiff piece of wire into the small hole in the cylender face.Push the wire in to depress lock pin and turn the key counter clockwise untill the lock cylender can be removed and install into the new lock. Have fun[]

thanx for the help, but the switch that i am having trouble with is mounted to the stearing column under the dash. it conects to a few wires and a rode that conects to the key tumbler. it has 2 screws to attach it so that is not hard but the pin that keeps it from working is kicking my tail.

thanx

There is an actuator rod that travels down the column fron the key switch. It attaches to the ignition. There should be a retainer on the rod.
