Good motor... Famous for not draining oil out of the heads at sustained higher revs, but bigger pans and pressure restrictors, and/or possibly some machining to open up the flow back down can overcome that. Some of the 455's were around 500 ft-lbs of torque out of the box, and well into the 300+ hp range. That is what made the post-rocket Olds cars haul serious butt. The Toronado most definitely rocks (with the 455).
Bummer though, the motor mounts will not line up with classic SBC/BBC engines. In fact, I think that the Pontiac, Buick, and Olds 455ci engines won't line up with each other either. There is probably a conversion kit out there somewhere (JC Whitney, or one of those places), or your local machine shop should be able to take care of the job for you. GM motor mount measurements and specs are available at many speed shops and drag shops that use those motors.
The Chevy trans has a different bell housing than their Olds (and Pontiac, and Buick) cousins.
bill.
