I just purchased a 74 vet and I need some help with numbers etc.

The trim tag is = 407
Paint code = 74L

The VIN# IS 1Z37J4S417663 and the # on the top back of the engine next to the bell housing is 14816379.

If someone could please let me know what type of trim and original color my vet was I would really appreciate it.

Also, I am not sure how to determine whether or not this vet is numbers matching. I listed the engine and vin# above. I hope this helps.

That would be vette # 17663 of that production year.

407 is silver leather

74 was medium red (the darker of the reds), and L means lacquer

That doesn't look like a 1974 engine serial number to me. Position 8 is supposed to be F (Flint MI), or T (Tonawonda NY), the last three digits (11 total) should be 3 letters for engine size/transmission/carb codes.
