anyway, i'm looking for an open air filter housing for a '78 L48 vette and every search i've done so far has been a dead end. i hoping to find one and give it to my dad for his birthday in a couple weeks. someone please help me....i'm not even sure what size filter will fit under the hood, but i know i want to use a K&N

well i have a 77 l48 (i guess) and im sportin a 2 1/2 ' x 14' filter on a 350 w/ edelbrock 2101 performer series intake and 650 cfm carb i just went to autozone and picked up the chrome 14" filter and stuff to make it fit (you might also need to get a longer screw for the cap) hope this is what you were looking for.

p.s. k&n also has the same kit and i have used it before and i cant tell the diff. its just purple

 

how much room do you have between the hood and the top of the air cleaner, cuz, i'd like to use a flat base, not a drop base with the 3" filter if it will fit
