Parts oddity
Greetings, I recently purchased the complete driveline from what I was told was an L46 car. I purchased it knowing all wasn't correct but the price was right and like I say, it is complete. The owner is going LS and I got everything not useable on the conversion. I plan to sell some of the pieces I won't be needing, mainly because even once I find the C3 I want, I've never been a numbers guy. If I have something someone needs to go correct on their car, I am glad to pass it along and all I need is parts that work. I said all that to say this, I pulled the alternator to check the numbers and there aren't any. By appearance it is an 884 and the car was running and driving three weeks ago so I am confident it is good but there is no part number and no date code. There is a number 6 stamped on the pulley near the center at that's it. Has anyone ever seen one that has no numbers on it? I'm not posting it for sale here so admins, please don't smack me, I am just looking for input. I assume with the correct stamps, this could be the "right" alternator for anyone or am I missing something? I am trying to add some pics to clarify but struggling, any tips?. It is undamaged, original finish, with no sign it has ever had a number on it. I am thinking an assembly line quick fix or something of that nature. I admit I am not extremely knowledgeable on Corvettes but I've worked on every other classic in the GM line. I desire to learn as I am shopping for a C3 but slowly, I want to learn BEFORE I buy, Lord knows I've learned a lot of things the hard way. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
