Default RE: Power Steering

Thanks for all the advice. I adjusted the screw on top of the steering box about 1/4 of a turn and it helped the steering quite a bit. However, I could not turn the screw more than 1/4 of a turn.Is there a problem with this? I am also going to replace the rag joint because there is still some play in it. Should I replace the whole joint or just rebuild it with the kits available? How can I tell? Also, where is the most reasonable place to buy parts?
Thanks again for all the help.

Be sure you only adjust the screw on top of the box w/ the steering in the straight ahead position as the gear is tightest at that point since that's where you are most of the time. If you tighten when off center, you can lock up the steering. [] There is another adjustment nut on the steering axis that has a lock ring. You need to get a service manual to do the adjustment.

I think the only part you need to replace is the rubber part in the rag joint.

I replaced my power steering a few months ago and had the exact same problem.
If you have a Haynes repair manul go to page 10-17uper right corner and there the answer is.
The piston rod needs to be adjusted.
Once I did this the steering was fine.

How old/worn are the tires on your 'Vette?
