Question about replacement fiberglass front bumper cover
Hello all,
I'm have installed a fiberglass front bumper cover on my 1979. I'm now ready to attach the grills. I'm scratching my head because the new cover has six tabs (3 for each grill) sticking out of it. You can see the tabs I'm referring to in the picture linked below:

My question is: do I mount the grill to these tabs or do I cut them off and mount the grill to the original mount points on the bumper within? I ask because it seems like it would fit flush and look good if mounted to the tabs, but it doesn't feel like it would be very secure. If I cut the tabs off and mount inside it kind of looks like the grills will be set back into the cover too far and won't look good.
Would love to hear from someone else who has installed one of these covers.
Thanks!

That's just it... the new bumber does stick out further than the original. I had no idea this was the case until the bumper was painted and mounted. Thought I'd try here since I know replacing the urathane bumber with fiberglass is fairly common.
