What is the difference between the 79 and older leaf springsand the 80 and newer. Can they be interchanged?

Hi bruiserman, I don't know what the difference is between the spring itself but the catalogues all list them as a different number so I'm thinking they are not interchangeable, I know the suspension on the '80-'82 is different than the older ones so the dimensions are probably not the same. I put in a fiberglass spring in my '78 in place of the steel job when I rebuilt the rear whole suspension, I ordered the one for my year, everything went together with no issues.

 

I was thinking that but wanted to check. Am upgrading the rear leaf very soon can't wait to see the difference.

I put in the fiberglass/composite spring, and I have no complaints.
