Rear spring bushings
I installed new bushings on the rear springs today and had a slight problem with the holes not lining up and had to use a clamp to move the spring over to get it together. Is this because the car is on jack stands and the trailing arms are just hanging there. I noticed that the strut rods were sitting on my exhaust pipes holding them up some. Is this normal for the holes not to line up when doing it this way?
Yes, and the bolt holes did’nt lineup before I even started.
The holes on the spring and the trailing arm. When looking at it from the side the bolt is at a slight angle and the holes don’t line up. If I can I will post a picture.
You need to get it off the jack stands and let the suspension settle out and I the spring should be almost flat with just a slight arch in it. When it's resting on the floor again, the strut rod should not be touching the exhaust pipes.
Is that a new spring by the way?
