rear window seal on a 72 coupe

Smile rear window seal on a 72 coupe
is there a trick to attaching the rear window seal on the removable window.
i dont remember ever doing this.

Does the seal stay w/ the window or the body? I'd think that 3M Weatherstrip Adhesive would work if it's glued on.
