I ordered an electronic igniton kit from Eckers for $159.
Said just toss the points and screw it in.
No such luck, there is some modification work to be done, Not Easy.
If my Vet was numbers matching it might have been worth it.
I sent it back and took the advice of a friend and bought one of those aftermarket GM HEI distributors on Ebay for $119.
Now I need HEI wires and that should be it.
My friend has had one of these distributors in his 66, 427 for 5 years, no problems.

 

Does it have a tach drive or did your friend go to an electronic tach?

 

It is a tach drive, HEI with internal coil.

I remember in '75 when HEI first came out that GM had to electronically dial back the dwell equivalent at idle cuz the existing plug wires were breaking down from so much voltage.

 

Seems like you found a good one there, plug and play. I put a Pertronics in my original dizzy and your right, there were 24 steps and I had to take the wholething apart, this seems like a better way to go. PG.
