Sorry, I thought the noise happened when you were driving.
The noise is probably your exhaust cooling off after you shut down. I get the same thing now and then when it gets cold out here in Flemington,NJ
Remember you live in Jersey not in Florida.

Sounds are random and do not occur everytime I shut the caroff. Sounds can travel maybe it is the fuel pump. I don't have a power antenna so I can eliminate that possiblity. Is it possible that its the sending unit? I guess I'm going to have to wait for it to happen again and really try to pin point the noise.

Cooling metal is my very strong suspect, and it won't make the soundsevery time.
As I mentioned, I doubt that you have an electric fuel pump. It would stop working with the ignition turned off anyway.
There is nothing in the sending unit to click.
