I thought I would share with you something that happened to me today in hopes that it won't happen to you.
I was taking out the speedo/tach side of my dash when I smelled smoke!? There was smoke coming from just above the rear view mirror. I have no electrical there and my battery was also disconnected,WTF!!!
My wife had just got home and saw the smoke and asked what are you doing. Hell I didn't know what was going on either.
It turned out that after melting the top of my rear view mirror and burning a spot on the header moulding that I had just replaced the other day that it was a 3"x6" lexan mirror that I use to look into hard to see areas that I left on the seat, it was 3+feet away from the spot that it fried. SOOOO don't do what I did just thought I should share, who would have known.

 

So was the mirror focusing sunlight on the spot that was smoking?
