vin number
The VIN should be right in the dash in front of the drivers seat. Should be able to see it from the outside looking into the windsheild. HOWEVER, on the older Vettes many of those fall off do to corrosion so yours might be gone. I am not sure where else the VIN is posted though.
Also check the front of the engine block on the right side just below the head I think. But, that works IF that is the original engine.

There are several places that the serial number is placed but if you are asking this question I don't know if you will find them. It takes someone who has done it before or has a good working knowledge of what they are looking for.
1. Drivers side windshield pillar or driver's side dash at the edge of the windshield. If it is not there beware the car you have is illegal. Law requires it to be plainly visible.
2. Driver's side frame just above the rear wheel where the frame kicks up over the tires and rear trailing arms.
3. The last 6 digits will appear on the engine pad in front of the passenger side valve cover.
4 The last 6 digits of the serial number will appear on the tag on the passenger side of the transmission. the exact location depends on the transmission type.
5. On the title or registration, original bill of sale, warranty card(Potecto Plate)
