1987 Digital Dash Cluster
I'm having problems with my dash cluster. I have a guy who is going to try Bryan's repairs to the solders, but I've done a lot of research on it, and this tells me the dash actually converts analog signals to digital. Is this the case? If so, will analog gauges read the signals from the sensors which are on the car? I thought about designing and building my own design dash for the car using analog gauges. Anybody out there get any wild thoughts like these. Maybe I've outlived my brain.Huh? Appreciate any thoughts or ideas on this. Thanks.

Hey Catman, I like your idea. If your going to design a new dash, why not choose the analog gages you want and install new sensors with the change-over? Water temp, oil pressure, volts, would all be real easy to plumb/wire to new sensors and gages. Tachometer might be more challenging if it goes through the ECM. I'm not familiar with the digital dash so I don't know what other systems it monitors. If my '78 was in poor shape in the dash department I would use new after-market gages and sensors. I like the idea of more accurate gages and a classic look.
