Default 84 clunking noise

I am new to the forum and have a 1984 with 19,000 mi on, super clean and runs great with the exception of a clunking noise that comes and goes when i decelerate from 35mph to 10. sounds like a lug nut inside a hub cap and follows the rotation of the wheel as you slow down, some times loud and other times not. I have taken it to two shops and of course they can't replicate the problem. u joints are all good and I have changed the diff fluid also and even changed the rear wheel bearings.any help would be greatly appreciated

If it is a honeycomb cat then that's quite possible where the noise is coming from because they have a tendency to break into pieces.

I remember that it helps to work the Posi-Trac additive into the clutches by driving in figure eights in a parking lot. You might try that if you don't find anything else.

I did that for about 20 min after I added the posi fluid, but tks, it did smooth out the noise when in tight turns
