noise when turning
Hi everyone. I have a question on my 85 vette. At slow speeds like when turning into a driveway, I hear a clicking or more like a thumping sound. It seems to be when turning right or left. What might this be? It isn't the tire hitting the wheel well or anything obvious like that. Any help will be greatly appreciated. My Haynes manual makes no mention of this in troubleshooting section.

RE: noise when turning
Is the noise coming from the front or the rear of the car, if it's the front I would check the wheel bearings, if it's the rear, you could be hearing the limited slip differential, check the fluid level.

Now that you mention it, I believe it's coming from both front and rear. The front sounds like a click noise and the rear DOES sound like the limited slip being low on fluid and is a totally different sound. Thanks a lot. I'll check fluid first and see if rear noise goes away and then I'll investigate wheel bearings

RE: noise when turning
I'm glad you found the culprit...It's my understanding that older GMlimited slip differentials require an additive to help disengage (un-lock) the clutches, GM part # 1052358, but you can also buy it at most any auto parts store
