86 digital dash
I read Bryan's fixit article. Even though I've built several Heathkit radios, I find the digital dash daunting, to say the least.
At any rate, my dash has the blackout problem frequently. It works better when the car has been parked in the sun so it is hot inside. Does anyone have any suggestions short of the MAJOR SURGERY in Bryan's article?

Well, the hot car is a pretty dead giveaway for the cold solder joints and loose connections since the heat expands the joints and makes for a better contact. No other suggestions other than buying a rebuilt from GM for $450.00.[
