Default 1990 Digital Dash problems

Hi all,

This is my first vette and my first visit to the forum. My 1990 speedo/fuel gauge is acting up. After a good warm up, at least 45min. to an hour, the numbers on the speedo and the icons of the fuel gauge start to fractionalize and change wildly one minuet I'm goning 45mph the next I'm going 745mph the next I'm going-_' mph.Parts of the fuel readout blink in and out. The hotter the car gets the more it does it. When I drive through rain or just a cloudy area and the temp falls, the gauge calms down and reads some what normal. The dealer is stumped and so am I.I first suspected the dash processor board but, the problem gets worse with the temp increase and the processor board is in a temp stable area in the car. Could it be the under the hood computer or the prom chip?

More than likely, a replacement unit is in your future. Notorious for cold solder joints that open up when temp goes up.

Bought one from this site about 3 years ago, haven't had any trouble with it at all.

I agree with RSHIVER. This is the best, and lowest priced, place to consider a rebuilt, or new, one.
