Default 88 drivers window doesn't work

The driver's side window on my 88 does not work and seems really loose. I can hear the motor running but the window doesn't move. I removed the door panel thinking I would see what is up and can't see anything. How do you access the window mechanism and what might be the problem? Thanks!

The gear on window regulator is most likely stripped or you have a dead spot in the gear. The window might be biding in the track due crud or lack of lube or even jammed by somebody weighing heavy on the glass. The motor comes off the regulator to expose the gear area. Be careful w/ the fingers working inside the doors. Again find a service manual to help you walk you through the process so not to remove too much or do the repair blind.

Thank you. I was able to gain access to the mechanism and found that the spot weld that fastened the gear to the arm that raises the window was broken.A small weld and I'm back in business!
